Welcome to Minnesota Waldorf School’s Early Childhood Summer Camp
Ages 3.5 to kindergarten in the fall
An old-fashioned lazy day of summer is the overarching theme of our early childhood summer camp. Each day is spent outside playing on our beautiful eight acres. Sandbox, slide, mud kitchens, and gardens will be waiting at drop off each morning to ignite creative play. Simple summer crafts of summer will keep interested hands busy and illuminate the season. Clean up time, circle games and a healthy snack happen mid-morning before we head out front to engage in water play, nature hikes, and tending chickens. Children staying all day will pack a lunch from home, have rest-time, and then head to the courtyard for more play.
Come join us!
An Old-Fashioned Summer Camp for Older Children
First through sixth grade in the fall
Theme weeks are for older children only. Each theme week is structured on a five-day week to provide ample time for children to relax, make friends, and immerse themselves in the themed activities.
GRADES SUMMER CAMP 2021 – Theme Weeks
Week 1 -June 21-25
This is the week we take to the skies. We will explore everything that flies. From windsocks to kites, from planes and catapults to rockets! Everything we make will be able to take flight and play with the air.
Week 2-June 28-July 2
Games and toys do not have to be bought. You can make them yourself! We will spend the week making our own toys to take home out of wood, paper, and upcycled materials, including yoyo’s and kaleidoscopes. At the end of the week, we will play!
Summer is made for outdoor adventure! This is the week we will get wet, dirty, sticky, and smoky! We will look for nature’s treasures in the woods, play in and with water, make our own bubble solution and bubble wands, and candles. At the end of the week, we will have a cookout in our wonderful fire ring.
Week 4-July 12-16
The word on the street is that the fairies love to go camping in style. We will build wonderful fairy tents and the furniture and fairies to go with them.
Week 5-July 19-23
Baking, Bread, and Butter
Baking bread, churning butter, cooking jam….the most fragrant and satisfying kitchen work there is! We will fashion a bread board and butter spreader out of wood to serve them on!
Week 6-July 26-30
A classic summertime activity, we will weave many things this week! Potholders and baskets, God’s eyes and friendship bracelets, and jump ropes! We will even make our own peg loom to take home.
Week 7-August 2-6
Fairies, Unicorns, and Pixies! Oh my! This week will be filled with magic to delight the imagination. We will make dragon caves and the dragons to live in them. We will make magic wands and unicorns out of beeswax. Pixies and elves, wizards and witches will come to visit too.
Week 8-August 9-13
We’ll have a great time learning the art of paper marbling and make our own journals with a simple bookbinding technique. We will do sun prints, paper-mache globes to be used for string lights, and of course origami
Week 9-August 16-20
Knights and Dragons
This week we will have lots of fun making swords and shields, training to be excellent knights, and seeking the dragon. All knights go on a quest and so will we at the end of the week. We may even find the dragon and its treasure!
Week 10-August 23-27
Make the most of these last days of summer with nature hikes, games and crafts activities. We will spend the week tie-dyeing, building a flower press , and making friendship bracelets. We will bid summer a fond farewell with a cookout and games in our beautiful back courtyard.
