A whimsical, slow-paced summer is the overarching theme of our early childhood summer camp.  Each day is spent outside playing on our beautiful eight acres. Sandbox, slide, mud kitchens, and gardens will be waiting at drop off each morning to ignite creative play. Simple crafts of summer will keep interested hands busy and illuminate the season. Clean-up time, circle games, and a healthy snack happen mid-morning before we head out front to engage in water play, nature hikes, and tending chickens.

Children staying all day will pack a lunch from home, have rest-time, and then head outside for more play.

Come join us!

Grades Camp (rising second grade through sixth grade in the fall)

An art-based summer camp for older children. Second grade through sixth grade in the fall. Theme weeks are for older children only. Each theme week is structured on a five-day week to provide ample time for children to relax, make friends, and immerse themselves in the themed activities.

Week 1: Woodland Wonders (June 17–June 21)

Start the summer off right with a new and improved version of one of our favorite weeks! We’ll learn the ways of the woods including orienteering, fire starting, tree identification, and foraging! Our nature exploration wouldn’t be complete without a little imagination. Stories and crafts this week will feature familiar Waldorf favorites, gnomes and fairies! We’ll build beautiful houses for our forest friends, make ourselves the very finest gnome or fairy costumes, and host a tea party picnic under the trees.

Week 2: Puppets (June 24–June 28)

Learn the ins and outs of puppetry! Campers will learn to make and manipulate their very own puppets. Mask making, set design, and skits will round out this puppet-filled week that will culminate in  an MWS summer camp puppet show!

*$25 Supply  fee added to cost.

Week 3: Fiber Arts (July 8–July 12)

Join us in an exploration of the fiber arts. Together we’ll build a communal nature loom, as well as personal looms for each camper. We’ll forage for natural weaving materials and focus on creating our own bookmarks and bracelets. Rock weaving, friendship bracelets, and wet felting projects will round out our week!

Week 4: Bread & Butter (July 15–July 19)

Let’s bake! We’ll make bread, jam, and butter and all sorts of table top accessories. Wax candle dipping, wooden cutting boards, and naturally-dyed cloth napkins will supplement our bread-filled tables.

Week 5: Natural Dyes & Tie-Dye (July 22–July 26)

Experience the wonder of natural dyes! This week we’ll make and dye playdough, color bandanas with natural dye, and tie-dye t-shirts.  We’ll learn which makes the best eco paint: plants, berries, coffee grounds, or dirt.  Flower printing and making beeswax wraps will round out our dye week!

Week 6: Book Arts & Paper (July 29–August 2)

Books Arts Sampler! Many projects to learn and take home working with visiting Book Artist Olli Johnson. Experience the Japanese art of marbling paper (Suminigashi, make your own ‘dos-a-dos’ book (pamphlet and tunnel techniques), create stamps using two methods: linoleum block carving and foam stamps which will be used to make patterned paper. Finally, make custom envelopes and cards for special mailings.
