Martinmas Lantern Walk

You are Warmly Invited to our MWS Martinmas Lantern Walk!

As the days grow shorter,

we search within ourselves to find the light.

Throughout the year, our school celebrates festivals to connect us with the cycle of nature, establish a yearly rhythm for the children, and strengthen our community. The festival of Martinmas is traditionally celebrated in November.

It honors, in a universal way, the story of St. Martin, patron saint of beggars and outcasts, who was known for his gentleness and ability to bring warmth and light to those in need.

Please join us Friday, November 11th at 6 pm

Our joyful celebration will take place at the

Minnesota Waldorf School

We will take a short lantern lit walk around the school grounds and then gather afterwards for a bonfire, cider and songs. We encourage you to bring any acoustic or percussive instruments you may have to add to the experience. Siblings and older children who would like to participate are welcome. It is important that the parents stay with their children and help keep a mood of joyful reverence.

If your child is not in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade, please feel free to bring a homemade lantern. If you are unsure of what type, please reach out to your class teacher for ideas.
