Setting the Stage for Learning, Naturally.
Building upon the foundation prepared in preschool or your home, the kindergarten prepares your child for the academic learning they will encounter in first grade. The curriculum of the kindergarten extends from the work in preschool, while gently challenging the child through longer stories, focused hand and woodwork, cooperative games, and continued work on social-emotional intelligence. Program choices of full or half day options are available.
Some of the ways we do this in the Kindergarten is that we become a bit more explicit in our language and teachings. We gently guide the child toward more of a wakefullness toward first grade readiness through longer story times, more complex circle times and crafts. Integrating the brain- body senses through specific midline Integrating movements that in turn aide in the child developing the capacities for reading, writing, sitting in a desk for a longer period of time, and the confidence for self advocating boundaries, needs and wants. And gentle guidance and 'coaching' of emotional regulation. This way when the child does have a bit more and more autonomy through the journey of the grades the foundations of sensory integration and emotional regulation continues to develop.
