Mary Lou Bala has been a kindergarten teacher at the Minnesota Waldorf School for over thirty years and was part of the parent group that helped found the school. She has served the children, parents, and school with interest and creativity and greatly enjoys sharing the Waldorf approach to early childhood education.
Mary Lou studied science at Penn State University and received a nursing certificate from Johnstown Community College. She studied arts and humanities at Metro State University. Mary Lou has done training with nationally and internationally known Waldorf teachers through a mentor program at the school and in conjecture with Rudolf Steiner College, Rudolf Steiner Institute, and Metro State College. She has participated in conferences, workshops, and continuing education classes throughout many years.
In addition to teaching, Mary Lou is interested in school community, social justice, reading, gardening, visiting with friends, hiking, and home life. She has two grown daughters and one granddaughter.
