Sports

MWS offers after-school sports to students in sixth through eighth grade through the MN League of Independent Sports Teams (L.I.S.T). We participate in fall soccer, winter basketball and spring volleyball. Students have the opportunity to play in any and all of the sports offered. Sixth grade students will play scrimmages within the class for soccer and then compete against other school’s sixth graders in basketball and volleyball. The seventh and eighth grade combine to play against other school’s seventh and eighth grade teams in soccer, basketball and volleyball. Baseball is taught and played in the spring during Movement class.

The mission of L.I.S.T. is to promote the development of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, to build community and foster friendship between the various schools and participants, and to encourage students to play, which fits well with the Waldorf philosophy.

 Basketball Season Has Begun!

At MWS, the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes participate in a season of Basketball through L.I.S.T. Practices are held at school during Movement class.

The 6th grade class learns the rules and skills to play competitive basketball. They play against other teams in the L.I.S.T. roster and all 6th grades students participate to give them the experience of playing in a game situation.

The 7th and 8th grade classes join together to form one or two teams to compete against other 7th/8th grade teams. They learn more skills and tactics. All 7th and 8th graders participate in Movement class, but game participation is optional.
