The average American ate 15 pounds of added sugar a year in 1830. Today this number is 150 pounds. This dramatic increase in sugar consumption is at the core of all Western diseases, which includes diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and obesity. This class will discuss the sugar epidemic and focus on simple strategies to dramatically reduce sugar consumption. The format will include lecture, hands-on experience, and group discussion.
