About Our School

The Minnesota Waldorf School was founded in 1981, and is fully accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and by AdvancED. The Minnesota Waldorf School provides Pre-K through 8th grade education to more than 190 students from the Twin Cities region. The average class size is 18 students, and we draw committed families from many surrounding communities. Since January of 2001, we have enjoyed living and working in our newly built school, located on eight acres just north of St. Paul. We are also enjoying our new Kindergarten Cottage providing space for 3 kindergartens, first grade and a parent/tot/education room, built in the summer of 2009.

Our curriculum includes ensemble and choir, a movement and games program (including spatial dynamics, Greek pentathlon and medieval games), gardening, woodworking, handwork and foreign language. We also have Eurythmy which is brought to the children in two blocks during the school year. The governance model is one of self-administration based on the three-fold social order; governance is held by the College of Teachers and the Board of Trustees. We have a caring and active parent community that supports the work of the school.

Twin Cities

The Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area is spread over the convergence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers, which, along with an extensive system of lakes, provide parks and wild spaces within a vibrant urban setting. Minneapolis and St. Paul are home to the University of Minnesota and a number of nationally recognized private colleges and universities, as well as many community and two-year institutions. The Waldorf/ Anthroposophical community is strong, with two other Waldorf Schools in the greater metro area, an active branch of the Anthroposophical Society, and several farm communities with community supported agriculture programs.
